Spending a Day With Courtney Hadwin As Her Makeup Artist at The Metropole Studios in Chiswick

It was just past 8am on a cold November morning that I was met by Courtney Hadwins music manager; Oliver Moheda. It was an honour to be the makeup artist for Courtney; a world renowned singer made famous from America's Got Talent back in the year of 2017 when she blew everybody’s mind on stage when she sang at the tender age of 12.

Nobody expected such a shy and timid  girl from Durham to blast out that song with strength and perfection in a true Janis Joplin style..I remember back in 2017, when I was 17 years old, watching her on America's Got Talent (AGT) and never in a million years imagine that I would be her Makeup artist 8 years later in the famous Metropole Studios in Chiswick, where so many stars have recorded their songs; including Michale Jackson, Queen, etc

On meeting Oliver Moheda at 8am on that morning, I was taken to her hotel room at The Hilton hotel at Shepherds Bush..it is here that I did her makeover and straightened her hair prior to us all getting a taxi to The Metropolis Studios. I met her dad as well who was a really lovely guy and I remembered his face from all those years ago when I watched her on The Voice at just 17 years of age. Courtney Hadwin was 12 years of age back then. It was years before that age when I was about 9 years of age, that I developed a dream to be a makeup artist for famous people on all these live shows and that passion has never left me.

After the short drive to The Metropole Studios in Chiswick, we entered the studio to the musicians setting up all their equipment ready for the recording day ahead. There was the drummer, the keyboard player and 2  guitar players and they took a few hours setting up and practicing before the whole performance with Courtneys vocals.

So the main point of this blog is to illustrate the products and techniques I used on Courtney Hadwin prior to her big musical session for the day.

So the main product I used as moisturiser was Bobby Brown face base moisturiser; this was applied first to the skin prior to the concealer. Then I used HNB concealer and I applied this as an eyelid base first.

I then set this eyebase with concealer and then used a Huda Beauty loose powder in the eyelids. She wanted a fairly natural look overall bit also the look was to have a black liner for a winged liner on either side of both eyes. This looked really good on Courtney and all I had to do was top up and freshen up a few times throughout the day.

She did not want a heavy lash look so I used light lashes (false lashes) and applied these with care and attention.

I then used a Benefit brow pencil to fill in her brows.

I then finished off her skin with a Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter as I use this as a skin tint. I then applied concealer on the highlighted areas of the face to smooth any skin tones and make skin tones look more even.

The last touches were applying a skin finish bronzer on the cheek bones  - this was by using a Mac Mineralised product which really highlights the cheek bones.

The whole look was then finished off with The Kyle cosmetics blusher and she was adamant she did not want lipstick so we used a  natural lip gloss - Kiko 07 was the make and the shade.

I really enjoyed watching Courtney all day; she looked and sounded amazing. I was there to touch up her hair and makeup as required ad I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe, the place, the company and the music!
