On the day I was travelling to Mottram Hall in Wilmslow, southern Manchester, I was setting out to be a makeup artist for a well-known football player and all I knew was that it was a Nike shoot for football trainers and football kits. I was full of anticipation and guessed it could be maybe a Liverpool player that I was going to meet but in reality I had no idea which football player was going to be the male model.
Mottram Hall is a beautiful Cheshire hotel with spa, a golf course, spa breaks, spa days and treatments and is a stunning stately home in the middle of the countryside only a mile from Wilmslow. I often go there for spa days as it's so luxurious and a real treat. Surrounding the huge house and hotel, there are beautiful gardens and a football pitch, hence this is a stunning location for a shoot and I can definitely see why Nike chose this location.

Being very familiar with Mottram Hall, and having done wedding makeovers there before as a makeup artist, I knew where to head to when I arrived and I knew where the shoot would take place.
When I arrived, I was met by the creative director for Nike football and all of us as a team planned out the whole day from start to finish before the football model arrived. I remember being really pleased to hear that it was Phil Foden; Manchester City football player and also England's football player. I must admit I hadn't expected it to be him as he's incredibly well-known and top of his game and I felt it was like an honor to work with him.
When I met with Phil, he was such a down to earth and amicable person and we got on really well. Only light a natural makeup was required as being a male model for a Nike shoot it was more about looking naturally book good for the camera.

So what are the makeup products I used and techniques applied? Well here we go for a male natural look!
I used Bobby Brown face base moisturiser; this was applied first to the skin prior to the concealer to simply moisturise his skin.
Then I used Natasha Denona concealer to even the skin tones out prior to using Charlotte Tilbury’s face powder (shade number 1) to set the skin in place and create a matt finish so no shine would come through on the photos.
It was so unbelievably simple but effective and was literally a 20 minute makeover!
After Phil Foden’s simple makeover, he then went outside onto the grounds of Mottram Hall where the photographers and the videographers were waiting and he spent the remaining time role playing in the field for the cameras and the NIke shoot.
